Safeguard’s Armed Security Officers are trained to DHS Federal Protective Services (FPS) standards. All officers are certified in CPR, First Aid, and AED and qualify semi-annually with their issued .40/9mm caliber semi-automatic firearm or client required weapon and annually with an expandable baton and OC spray. Safeguard employs full-time trainers to meet training and certification standards and uses the company integrated technology to track individual officer’s certification requirements.
The colors of the uniform, patch design, badge, duty hat, shoes, web gear, etc., are client specific. All Safeguard officers are provided a full set of multiple and seasonal uniforms at no charge to the officer. Safeguard has the capability to manage and operate the physical, mechanical and electronic/IT systems used to control access to installations, areas, and facilities. The access control system administration is performed by a certified technician. DPC Officers control building access with the aid of magnetometers and x-ray screening, enforce badging and conduct random interior security screenings.

Armed security guards are trained to use deadly force if necessary and usually carry a firearm. They are typically required to complete specialized training and obtain the necessary licenses or permits to carry a firearm. On the other hand, unarmed security guards do not carry a firearm and often use non-lethal weapons like batons, pepper spray, or tasers. They are trained to respond to situations without the use of force, relying on deterrence and de-escalation techniques.
Security guards are required to complete a variety of training courses, including a pre-assignment class, which covers topics such as security procedures, communication, and report-writing. They may also need to complete additional training, such as first aid, CPR, and AED, as well as active shooter threat response and self-defense courses. In some cases, guards may also need to obtain a security guard license or complete a specific number of hours of training before they can work in the field.
Access control personnel are responsible for managing entry and exit points to a location, ensuring that only authorized individuals can access the facility.
